Local video processing (web & desktop)

When you choose a local video in the browser extractor or desktop Smart Frame Studio, decoding and image creation happen on your device. GetVideoFrames does not upload that video, its audio, extracted frames, file name, or file contents to our servers for the local workflow.

Your browser or desktop app may keep ordinary temporary data in memory while the tool is open. Downloaded images and ZIP files go wherever your system saves downloads. Closing or reloading the page (or quitting the app) releases in-memory work according to normal platform behavior.

iOS app

The GetVideoFrames iOS app processes video on your device with AVFoundation and Apple Vision. Source video, extracted frames, and Smart Collections stay on the device for that workflow. We do not operate a GetVideoFrames backend that receives your video or frame pixels for extraction.

To import and export, iOS may ask for Photos and (if you use Camera) camera/microphone permission. Frames you save go to your Photos library; ZIP/Share uses the system share sheet. Lifetime unlock is a one-time Apple In-App Purchase processed by Apple under Apple’s privacy terms; GetVideoFrames receives purchase entitlement state via StoreKit, not your full payment card details.

If analytics are enabled in the app build, we send privacy-safe product events (for example app open, import/extract/export outcomes, and Lifetime paywall actions) with coarse buckets such as duration or frame-count ranges. Events are sent to PostHog. We do not send video or frame pixels, local file names as free text, or export contents through this analytics path.

Accounts, purchases, and license devices

When you buy Pro on the web/desktop or use the account portal, we process the email you provide, OTP login records, Stripe customer/payment identifiers, purchase and refund status, license status, and limited device activation data (a random installation ID, device label, platform, app version, and activation/last-seen times). Stripe processes payment details under its own privacy terms; GetVideoFrames does not receive or store full card numbers. iOS Lifetime purchases are billed by Apple. We use these records to fulfill purchases, prevent fraud and duplicate fulfillment, provide receipts and support, enforce device limits, and meet legal/accounting obligations.

Anonymous analytics

If a PostHog project key is configured, we send a small set of manual events: public page paths, named public calls to action, waitlist and checkout outcomes, and coarse local extraction lifecycle signals (backend, mode, format, size/duration/frame-count buckets, and failure categories). On the website, PostHog may store an anonymous identifier and session/device identifiers in first-party cookies and browser local storage so visits can be recognized for up to 365 days. We do not use this identifier to create a named user profile.

On the public website, automatic interaction capture, performance capture, exception capture, surveys, and person profiles remain disabled. Session replay is enabled for public web sessions (100% sample) so we can understand product usage. Inputs are masked; local video preview and extracted frame pixels are blocked from recordings with `ph-no-capture`. Canvas recording stays off. We also remove automatic URL, referrer, title, host, email, and user-id fields before analytics events are sent. The iOS app does not use session replay.

We do not send video or frame content, local file names, email addresses, form contents, Stripe session ids, raw error messages, or URL query strings through this analytics wrapper. PostHog or the configured analytics host may still receive technical network information such as an IP address while delivering the request. If no public PostHog key is configured, the wrapper sends nothing.

If you join the Pro waitlist, request a Windows/Linux desktop notify-me alert, or email support, you choose to provide contact information so we can respond or send relevant product updates. That contact handling is separate from anonymous product telemetry.
